Bikram 17
Day 17 completed. My body is not my biggest fan right now as after every session I feel like i’ve just run a 1/2 marathon.  Hopefully all this will translate nicely to running  as it is not 10 weeks until the Rock and Roll 1/2 marathon.  2 weeks until the Zombie run and a month until the Warrior Dash. I’m getting involved in running a little later this year than i did the last two...

Morning Bikram 16
You know my rule about not doing an evening yoga session and then doing one first thing in the morning? I broke that today and it was a good thing!  I either got the right amount of fluid and sleep last night, or I built up enough endurance I can do sessions with less than 12 hours in between Solid session with Abbie.  Next to Robyn, Abbie is my favorite instructor.  Some would say it’s...

Bikram 15
I’m at the 1/2 way point, no reason to look back as it would take me just as long to quit as it would to finish.  15 days of Bikram and I think I’ve lost my mind. I’ve talked about the heat and the sweat, the focus and the determination.  I don’t think I  can hit on the exhaustion enough.  The level of mental focus it takes to continue to do this daily is draining....

Bikram 14
New day, different instructor, different experince The hot box was in full effect today 80 degrees outside, 110 inside and I came ready to work. I’m beginning to find weaknesses in my body.  My left mid to lower back seems to be in knots.  I figured out that in camel pose, if i don’t do the full position but stop with my hands on my hips, I can feel the muscle sliding around and...

Bikram...the turning point
I was not the most enthused about this 13th day of Bikram yoga.  I managed to get enough water in me during the day and turbo didn’t happen so I had a little extra time to rest. I followed Robyn’s montra of “Have no expectations.” The session started hot and sweaty.  Breathing exercises, 1/2 moon, back bend and hands to feet…blah blah blah.  Then something happened....

Bikram Challenge....UGH!
Day 12 My body hurts, I’m drained, exhausted, just the thought of going to yoga after teaching turbo tomorrow is giving me chills.  Why am I doing this to myself? Because my body is changing! 12 days and my body is changing.  I started to actively feel it a few days ago but i’s a painful reality as of today.  I’m tired…Internally tired.  Like reset level tired.  I ended...

Bikram challenge day 9
Today is honestly the first day that this workout have felt GOOD in a week!!! I’m a day behind schedule because I missed Wed due to work out of town but I plan on making that day up soon with a double session on a Tuesday or a Thursday The instructor today was Josylin and her voice during instruction is like listening to smooth jazz.  She gives interesting back story to bikram while in...

P90X2 /Bikram 6
This morning was P90X2 X2 core, I felt so tired and worn out I’m barely counting it as a workout.  I was tired and lazy feeling…you know, pretty much par for the 2nd week of an awesome P90X workout.  My left back and IT band are exceptionally sore and inflexible today. Tonight I finished Day 6 of the 30 day Bikram challenge.  Instructor tonight was Doug!  (As in, I avoid his classes...

Bikram day 5
I feel drained! I don’t think I have ever done 5 days in a row before and it is an exhausting experience.  I have so much more respect for Bikram instructors who do a 9 week session to get certified. I got to class this morning and Abiee is teaching.  I put my mat down in the room come back out and all i could says was  “Wow, it’s already hot in there.” There is a...

Bikram day 3/ P90X2 yoga
Today was a two birds with one stone day! I made a concerted effort to squeeze this class in at 9:30 am today! Got to work about 6am so I took a break at 9:30 for class. Bikram day 3 - Hydration is becoming a factor so I need massive water intake over the next few hours. Instructor for the day was Agata, she’s also the owner.  I remember the first time I met her, I kind of went out of my...

Bikram challenge day 2
30 days looks like a long time when you’re in the beginning.  I was excited to get to class today, more so because I know if i didn’t GO, life would find a reason for me not to go. I got a new breathe yoga mat today.  It’s basically a towel mat to get up all the sweat, much better than my normal mat covered with a yoga towel. The second day curse is still in effect with this...

P90X2 total body
Because of all the cardio based workout’s that I’ve been doing since Jan, Today I noticed a weakness in strength training. Total Body is an odd workout as the muscles that are working the hardest are not the ones you are actively working.  Its almost like a detraction workout.  ”Here, we are going to to tricep kick backs with 10lbs weights…WHILE in a warrior 3” ...

30 days of Bikram
As if teaching turbo, marathon training and doing P90X2 isn’t enough, I decided to try to do a 30 days bikram challenge I’m going to do this differently.  I’m sore from running and other activities and i’m doing yoga for the flexibility, detox and control it provides while strengths weakness in the body.  I won’t be a level 10 yogi over night and I don’t want...

P90X2 - Mobility and recovery
I did plyocide yesterday afternoon and it was harder than I remembered.  Mobility and recovery this morning is the perfect workout. The rumble roller is the greatest thing to come out of the P90X2 workouts.  This device has removed pains from my body that I had originally thought were just symptoms of getting older but were just deep knots in my muscles. Get one!  This thing will get knots...

Morning Run
I”m starting later in the season than I would have liked but my 1/2 marathon and marathon training began this morning.  How do I know it began this morning and this wasn’t just A RUN? I didn’t want to do it, I got up, got adjusted and started running and fell into the grove I fall into when i’m preparing for something.  This is the start.  Not the fastest or longest run...

P90X2 - Phase 1 Day 1
The best laid plans often go awry… I was intending to focus more on Cardio this year with turbo-fire and insanity being my primary workouts but having done so much yoga, I’m finding my weak spots in strength and want to work those out. I decided to do the P90X2 workout starting with Phase one today X2 core - I forgot how good this routine is.  The first time I did it, I was barely...

Reset/Fittest loser results
So, it’s a day early as i’m not technically done with the Reset until tonight, but I had to get my Fittest Loser check in taken care of and I don’t think 24 hours is going to make that big of a difference. I was initially upset when I did the weigh in.  I only lost 16lbs!!!!  Last time  I did the reset I lost 25.  BUT THEN I got the REST of the results: I dropped 40 pts off...

Ultimate Reset Finale/ Yoga X
This is it!  Day 21 of the ultimate reset and i’m glad to be done. It’s also my final weigh in day for the fittest loser contest.  I’m going to be getting everything checked in about an hour and see how it all turned out. This time through the reset was much harder…kinda.  I was sick the first week, didn’t feel much better the second week and didn’t really...

Back to Bikram
Finally, the rock has returned to Bikram! This is my first time doing detoxing Bikram, while in the middle of the ultimate reset detox and I have to say it was an amazing session!  I sweat the usual buckets but it wasn’t the same kind of sweat as I don’t have to many more toxins to wring out of my body!  I’m in the Detox phase of Ultimate Reset and Have 2 more days to go before...

P90X2 yoga/ Reset Phase 2
Doing yoga everyday is tiring.  Robyn, the instructor in my Bikram class, always says: “Have no expectations, some days are easier than others and its a flowing practice.” I guess that logic pertains to all yoga.  I’m getting stronger and better but the reset is keeping me in a weakened state. Phase 2 of the reset, Release, starts today. This is the phase where I’m...

Yoga-X /Reset 6
The funny thing about the rest is how it makes you feel like you have a cold/allergies, the flu as your body begins to detox.  I have felt like crap since Friday night.  Saturday morning was a hard but effective workout and then went house hunting. Sunday I completely crashed and slept.  This morning  I feel better and worse if that makes sense.  I was going to do some turbo this morning but...

I didn’t get much sleep last night, this can be one of the side effects of doing the reset.  As your body begins to rid itself of toxins, all kinds of weirdness happens There is no Friday early morning Bikram class so I popped in Yoga X and went to town.  The flexibility and strength that i’m gaining from bikram is cool to see play out in a different yoga setting.  I’ve...

Day 2 Yoga - Fight Club moment
Since I”m doing the reset this month….starting tomorrow, I’m not suppose to do excessive strenuous activities (I will but i’m not suppose to).  Yoga and walking are the recommended activities. I teach turbo and P90X and i’m doing combat so more than yoga and walking is going to happen but I decided to take this time to have a dedicated month of yoga. My goal is to...

Turbo/Combat/Yoga/reset - no internet
SO, I’ve had no internet or cable tv for about two weeks as i’m changing providers and the process got completely screwed up. I’m on Week 6 of my 90 day turbo kick challenge Week 5 of Combat  and starting a month long yoga initiative where I’m going to do yoga every day.  It may not always be bikram but I will do a yoga session everyday. I’m also starting the...

Combat is awesome!
I don’t fully know why Les Mills workouts are so incredible but Combat has easily launched itself to the top of my favorite workout lists.  Today was combat 60, and this is easily my favorite cardio workout of all time.  It really is, very much, like being in an active sparring class.  You get the cardio and muscle workout that you won’t get from a traditional cardio workout. Feel the burn
Today was suppose to be a combat 45 and TF 30 kind of day but work got the better of me.  I figured since I ended up walking about 19 miles at work alone, (I know this because we are currently doing a walking contest with pedometers), i could probably skip the turbo workout as I’m teaching kick tomorrow night. I got home from a long day of work in Indiana and popped in combat 45.  What a...

My workouts are lining up almost perfectly!  Today is a turbo rest day for me, which is good since I did turbo yesterday AND taught Turbo-kick last night.   Combat Power HIIT has me convinced that all Australasian guys are crazy! combat 8 / tf 16
Combat 30 lead my workout this morning with some sweat generating punches and kicks.  My shoulders are extremely sore, I think it’s mostly from sleeping on them wrong, but it makes combat and Turbo kind of difficult at times. Turbo was a 20 minute HIIT which compliments the combat workout quite nicely.  340 calories in 20 minutes isn’t to shabby! I’ve been doing at situp/core...

TF Day 15 - Fire 45 EZ
The EZ doesn’t mean it’s any easier, it just means that there is no turbo round in the routine…i think. I didn’t much feel like doing this workout but i got it done.  Turbo is an accumulation workout so the more you do it, the more sore you will get.  For not pushing my hardest, I still burned 400 calories. Fortunately, today was a rest day for Combat so i’ll...

I am SORE! I was debating if I was going to do this mornings turbo-fire workout since i’m teaching turbo-kick tonight and that’s when the music started in my head “Who’s house, my house.!” It’s like a slow growing head-ache only it gives you energy and makes you want to move.  By 4:30 I was up and ready to light the fire! The workouts are rolling in faster than I can blog! Yesterday was a Turbo rest day but it was a Combat Power HIIT days. Turbo-Fire Day 6
The fire is lit and burning! Last night I taught Turbo-kick, only had two people show up but sometimes those are the best classes because you can focus on form.  I got home and decided i needed to get drunk.  This is not the norm for me so 1/2 a bottle of the crappies wine and a pizza later and I have a buzz going that puts me to sleep. Turbo-Fire Day 5- Who's House?
Guess who’s feeling better? I”m still not at 100% but todays 55 EZ workout was much better than yesterdays 30. 50 minutes of cardio burn and 5 minutes of after glow burn (sounds dirty but it’s not).  The first turbo time fire drill caught me off guard but I bounced back nicely for the next round.  And just when I think i’m beginning to tucker out toward the end, queen...

Turbo-fire Day 4 -Check your goals
Yesterday was a rest day, TF schedules its rest days in the middle of the week, which I don’t necessarily like but I understand.  Most people will diet and fitness fail on the weekends, by having workouts scheduled on weekends this helps keep you on track.  At least that’s my opinion. I’m still not at 100%, the reality is my body hurts in the joints which means I have a flu...
