P90X2M2W4 - The switch up
It seems like the p90x month two curse is with me again.  For some reason I tend to loose focus of get sick around week 6 of my xtreme workouts.  This time around, my low energy and getting ill are 70% my fault as im probably doing to much.  Marathon training, teaching turbo class and my normal p90x workouts have me doing 3 workouts on some days.  My son got sick early last week, it got cold and...

iRunner - 4 miles
#marathon training Today was a P90X2 rest day but also a running day so I ran.   I ran in the forest preserve with music and I found music I could run with.  My turbo-kick music is ideal to run with.  The entire soundtrack is 160bpm so if you keep on beat you have an awesome pace.  I can get faster by just stretching out my stride. I think this will become a weekly habit! 4.3 miles 51 minutes...

P90X2/Turbo - Know your body
#turbofire #P90X2 Today is plyocide, death by jumping.  I began this workout with full intention to jump myself into a Tony Horton induced coma, my left knee decided that this was not a good idea.  I’m not hurt but i’m on the edge of an annoying pain and I know its a result of the added running to my workouts.  This is the good kind of soreness, the kind where I know i’m...

P90X2W3D1- 4 blue balls
#P90X2 Chest+Back+Balance = Power! Last week I didn’t write much because I had two very emotionally and physically trying weeks.  I had technical issues to deal with at work, I got semi-sick, I had to go to court with one of my best friends, I’m teaching turbo-kick class at work for our fit club, I’m training for a marathon AND doing P90X2.  With all those irons in the fire, I...

P90X2/Turbo-kick - Sweat shall flow
#P90X2 #turbo-kick So you know how I said i wasn’t going to do Plyocide today and do turbo-fire instead?  Well I did both.  I slept in late so I had to do my workout this evening when I got home and Tony was just calling me.   My legs are still hurting from Sunday’s workout with Tony so this was especially difficult, I think it’s because i’m going harder now that...

P90X2M2W2D1- Just keep pushing
#P90X2 This morning’s Chest Back and Balance workout was the type where i just had to decide to keep pushing.  I’ve reached a point where I have the balance and i need to push harder to make it through mental blocks that I have established because i’m doing things in different positions.  I maintained the same numbers this week as last week but it was a stronger showing than...

P90X2M2W1D6 - Ah, you tricked me!
#P90X2 Today’s workout was actually yesterdays workout but I wasn’t feeling well so I skipped it and put it off until today  It’s called Back and Balance but as Tony tells you in the very beginning it’s really just pull-ups and Plyo.  Not Plyocide plyo, more like P90X plyo.  The workouts are getting better as this round of the workout continues into month 2.  It’s...

P90X2M2W1D4 - OUCH!!!!!
#P90X2 #beachbody X2 Shoulders and Arms, now THIS is what I was expecting P90X2 to be and WOW!  If you’ve done P90X, the workouts were hard and big.  This routine hearkens back to those days only harder.  Tony clearly has a balance fetish going on with this routine as everything is done with one foot off the ground.  Great for working core and arms at the same time, horrible for...

Running and recovery
#P90X2  #marathontraining Another day another workout in the books.  Working from home today, I did my recovery and mobility rumble roller workout while I was doing DFS file server re-designs, Exchange 2010 server DAG group configurations and explaining how San’s work.  (see in my real life i’m kinda the smartest guy in the room). The rumble roller was just what the doctor ordered...

iRunner - day 5
#marathon training ZOMG its freaking cold outside!  Today was a 3 mile run.  Not a big deal but its 27 degrees outside, windy, dark and I run in all black with an orange hat (smart, I know). The first mile of any run I do is always the worse, I usually want to die the first 1/2 mile of that mile.  I was running into a head wind up an incline…but at least I didn’t have to push a...

P90X2M2W1D1 - Phase 2 Begins
#P90X2 Phase 1 of this workout was all about building core strength so that when Phase 2 starts you can do things like this:   Yes, that is doing pushups on 4 balls so you are also focusing on balance and core.     A lot of routines in this workout are like this.  Swimmers pushups, 3 ball plyo pushups, elevated stability ball pushups.  I think Tony remembered what hard was suppose to be and...

iRunner - 7.4 miles
It’s Saturday and 34 degrees in Chicagoland, what am I doing at 7 in the moring?  Running! Kat, Aaron and I got into our cold weather running gear and hit the road for our long slow run for the week.  Aarons new stroller is amazing but I was still a bit concerned about him being warm enough because he doesn’t like to wear gloves.  Fortunately he slept through most of the run so we...

P90X2/iRunner day 3
As this is a P90X2 recovery week, not much going on there beyond the typical X2 Yoga and Recovery and Mobility routine for the next two days.  Both of these activities have come in handy with the added bonus of my Marathon training. Yesterday Kat and I did our third 3 mile run and we are already getting better.  We got Aaron a new stroller that is more comfortable for him during runs and they are...
