This morning was my first yoga anything in over a month! It wasn’t Bikram, but it felt good to be able to stretching and engage in some moving meditation for 90 minutes. This week of P90X workouts has me quite sore, which tells me that its something I needed to be doing.
Fortunately I did yoga in the morning because I taught Insanity round 4 tonight! Out of the 4 insanity rounds that have come out, this one is the hardest!!! It doesn’t help that I’ve been sick for the last few weeks but WOW this was hard!
I”m so impressed with my class, they just jumped right in fearlessly! Granted by the end of block 2, several faces had this look of betrayal but it’s good for us all :P
Tomorrow is P90X legs and back day. I used to always skip this one and I ended up in PT with weak hips and calves. I don’t think i’ll skip it anymore :)
Have a great one and keep pushing play!
This close to the end of the year, it would be easy to continue to lick my wounds and just decide to give it a fresh go Jan 1, but that’s not starting over, that’s making excuses.
Nothing says you can’t start new tomorrow. It’s not over because you didn’t get the results you wanted in the time frame you wanted. Do it now, start now, its like getting a running start at the new year.
If you quit your fitness goal and gave up, that’s not the answer, start fresh, start now, start over and keep moving forward. You may need to change the pace, you may need to slow down but any progress towards a goal is progress.
Last night I taught two classes and it was also my 2nd day back with P90X. How fortunate day 2 is Plyometrics and Plyo is an excellent class to teach in a group setting. I brought this workout to a class that I normally do easier activities in and I simply told them, “go easy pace yourself and it’s not about speed, its about form”
The class did wonderful and it was good for me as well to be able to get my workout in at the same time. I missed the basics of P90X. I got caught up in the speed and flash of Insanity and Combat but simple Push and pull is all you need to work a body into shape.
This afternoon I just finished Shoulders and Arms (I have one of those jobs where I work remotely so it’s easy for me to squeeze time in here and there to do things).
Talk about muscle burn. Initially my body was on fire and sore but quickly responded to the activities. Muscle memory helps you get back into shape quickly when you push it. I worked hard and I worked smart. I’m sore but there is no pain.
Tomorrow morning I’m going to do Yoga and i’m teaching Insanity tomorrow night.
Each day is a fitness adventure. Instead of looking forward to the end of the workout so I can start my next newer and more exciting program, i’m taking each day as it comes and working that day.
This is how you build a body and build fitness. Starting over one day at a time. It’s not too late to start now.
Have a great one!
Injuries and sickness have killed me since August!
I mean I’ve literally not wanted to do much of anything. I’m kind of gun shy if I feel odd pains in my leg, foot or left hip.
The end result is UGH!
The all time low was hit over the weekend as I got a case of the flu on Saturday morning and have pretty much felt sick until….oh wait, I still feel kind of ugh.
I need to do something to get me back and I need to take my time and enjoy the journey again so I decided to start at the beginning with P90X.
Chest and Back , the classic that starts it all.
Tonight I teach two classes. After a week off (I missed Saturday being sick), I’m going to teach Plyo-X so I’ll do it then with the class.
Go slow, go steady and be X-like.
Time to get back on the horse and make it good again.
To do this, it’s important that I set goals and one if them is do a few Spartan runs this coming year. I kind of over did it this year, running 4 1/2 marathons. It got to the point I ended up injured. Time to be smarter about it all.
I’m still going to attempt to do the Disney run in January, 2014 but it will be a fun run/walk.
Starting over sucks and if you don’t want to have to start over, don’t quit. I didn’t quit but I got hurt to a point I had to stop. Now let’s take that lesson and continue to move forward.
Last night, Chest and Back.
Tonight, teaching Plyo-x and Core Fusion.
One day, one workout at a time, for me, not sales, not the BB Cult I belong to, but for me and my health
The way I managed to line up my Insanity schedule this time around works out perfectly. I started on Sunday and since I teach Insanity on Thursday, I just skip that particular workout and sub it with my class and then Saturday is my off day which is another day I teach so it works out perfectly.
Tonight’s class proved that Insanity is really for everyone!
I had 3 nwebies in my class including a woman who had to be 70! I was worried about her doing the class and figured she would leave at some point in the middle when it got tough and she realized she signed up for the wrong class.
SHAME ON ME for prejudging this lady!!!!
She did the whole class, modified where she needed and is excited about coming back to class next week! HOLY HELL!!! This was not the easiest of classes either. Everyone put in a grade A effort but this was one of those inspirational moments as an instructor that makes you feel good.
Insanity will kick your ass but if you WANT to do it, you CAN do it. All you need to do is…
Dig Deeper :)
Have a great one
Yeah….so….you know how i’m always saying: “When you start a routine, follow it through and finish the routine, don’t skip around.” (Its in one of these many blogs I’ve written). Anyway, here is why I switched routines.
I went to the doctor and he’s cleared me for activity again. GREAT! I have a 39.3 mile run the first week in Jan….not so great.
I can push through Saturdays 13.1 run but the Sunday 26.2 would be an epic fail.
Les Mills combat is a GREAT workout…building strength and cardio stamina. If I had stuck with the program, I would be in awesome shape to do the 13.1 but I still probably would have crapped out about mile 18 in the 26.2
more than Asylum, or T25, no other workout could prepare me both cardio vascularly or get my feet and ankles adjusted, again, to the pounding 39.3 miles will put on your legs.
Having just come off impact injury, doing this may seem…Insane, but i can control this and if it hurts I back off. If I’m out running and it starts to hurt at mile 10, i still have 10 miles to run home.
Yeah yeah, i see those looks but trust me, I KNOW what i’m doing. I”m certified remember :)
Insanity this time around is different. Since I teach it weekly and understand the program much better now, I don’t feel as frantic doing it. The only workout that makes me sweat more is yoga.
All that being said, so far the leg, hip and foot feel fine. I need to stretch and continue to work on flexibility and i will schedule a few more appoints with my PT so make sure I’m not doing any damage.
Tonight i’m teaching two classes. One of them is going to be Kenpo-X, i’m not sure what i’m doing for the second class as of yet.
Now it’s time to shower and drink my morning Vanilla Shakeology! Healthiest meal of the day. I’m so glad I found this stuff because I just FEEL so much better when i’m drinking it I can’t begin to explain the difference.
You really should give it a try!
Currently i’m offering a 5 days sample pack. Message me for details or just got to my site and pick up a pack
Have a great one and DIG DEEPER!
Power is one of the best workouts I’ve done in a long time. The Les Mills crew put it together to bring the house down!
Rachel and Dan throw so much energy at this you can easily be in a flob sweat just from watching them. You’ll jump and push up and squat and power press and shuffle until your legs are burning and as Dan says:
"The Burn is fatigue and I love fatigue. Hello fatigue, would you like to go get some dinner?"
Yes he’s crazy
I did 15 minutes of additional ab work today as well. Day 2 of my ab challenge.
This is week two for me and I can feel things shifting in my hips and dead muscle areas from injury activating. This is a good thing!
I had to go to the last Bikram class last night and THAT actually taught me something about myself. I get locked into patterns and if i don’ go to the 4:15 class I wouldn’t want to go because….who knows. If yoga is about recognizing patterns within yourself and breaking them, this is a huge one for me. I like doing things at a certain time and if i cant do it then i don’ want to and I need to change that up a little. I did my best running when I would break the pattern and just run at night instead of early in the morning. I now have an interesting thing to working for a bit.
Tonight is my final PT session before going to see the doctor tomorrow. I don’t know what Britney and company have in store for me but I already know i’m going to be sore from this mornings workout.
Now I need to make a banana and vanilla shakeology and hit the road.
Have a great one!
200+ kicks at one point during this workout makes for some powerful. but sore legs and glutes!
Shoulders are burning from 30 minutes of punches. This is one of my favorite workout programs!
I also started a 30 day ab challenge today and kicked it off with Ab Ripper X. Classic but still hard as hell.
Today after work i think i’m going to hit a yoga class to get some extra stretching ahead of my PT appointment tomorrow.
Tropical and banana shakeology for breakfast and i’m ready to take on the day.
See ya tomorrow for more combat! You really need to be doing this program. Message me to order your copy and i’ll throw in 5 days of shakeology as a bonus!
Not feeling the greatest as I have a touch of the cold that is going around everywhere. I even cancelled my class last night which is something I do not do often. I got up this morning feeling better thanks to the miracle that is hot tea, and decided that I need to do my plyo workout.
Les Mills Plyo
Lots of jumps, lots of squats and lots of sweat. You want to change your body, you have to do it with challenges. The challenge of pushing through when you don’t quite feel like it. Squeezing in that extra burpee, dropping a 1/2 inch on a lunge. Every little bit helps!
I’ve noticed drinking daily Shakeology also helps a lot. The guy I got this cold from was sick for a few days. I’m feeling 80% better today and I know it’s because I flood my system with nutrition daily
Of course there are other products that work but this one has worked for me from the beginning in helping me get from 380 to 270 and it hasn’t lost it’s effectiveness. As a coach I get a discount so all this healthiness cost me 4 dollars a day and its so worth it!
I don’t necessarily want to eat a salad but I drink one of these and I’ve done better than 4 salads. Shakeology curbs sugar cravings, hunger cravings and usually fills me up for 3-4 hours depending on what i’m doing.
I’ve one more trip to the PT next Tuesday and then the doctor on Wed but i’m a bit nervous. I’ve gotten better but it still hurts. Not sure what’s going to happen at this point…prayers are welcome!
So have a great one, 2013 is coming to a close and NOW is the perfect time to jump start your fitness so in January you are like the rest of the sheep promising yourself that this year you will get into shape.
Do it NOW!
This morning was Combat 45
I’ll admit I did 25 minutes of it (No Not because i’m used to the awesome T25 workouts) because I taught two classes last night and my hips and glutes are all kinds of sore!
Last night I taught a plyo class at 7 that involved a ton of squats and power presses and I followed that up with my 8 pm class where i normally do the stability ball but decided to teach Kenpo-X instead.
So all of that with getting up at 4:40 in the morning to do combat and follow that with a PT session was a little much.
PT this morning was solid but I had actual muscle fatigue on many of the exercises (again, because of 3 workouts yesterday and a 1/2 workout this morning…not because I have weak hips as Britney would say).
I talk to one of the assistant therapist today and it turns out she used to intern at Disneyland. Interesting girl, full of energy and she’s a personal trainer so she understands this drive I have to push myself, sometimes a little to hard.
One more PT session next week followed by a Dr visit to determine if I’m getting better or not. Britney told me that she’s kind of shocked I wasn’t put in a walking boot from the start! So we shall see what happens next week.
Have a great one!
Running wall done for the rest of 2013
