#insanity

There is a cool feeling when you know you’re pushing your body and not injuring yourself.  You feel all the right muscle groups working in the core, your arms are pumped up and your lungs are breathing in and out as a pace that faster but easily providing your with enough oxygen.  You are in shape, healthy and loving life

Yesterday I did Insanity and then taught a Turbo-kick class in the evening.  I got home around 9pm, had a shakeology and went to sleep.  I got up this morning and Hit insanity again.  I’m tired, and my knees are a little sore but my body is responding the way it’s suppose to.  I say move, it moves, I say jump, it jumps, I say switch lunges with a hop and it says…FUCK YOU

OMG my knees are so sore I had to skip out on the last 12 minutes of Insanity.  I can push but as you get to know your body, you learn when you have to back off and my legs were not going to do switch lunges with a hop.  Right knee is a tad sore and I can correct this by spending some time on my rumble roller tonight.

I got up and worked and it feels good!

I also registered for the Beachbody Summit in Vegas this June. I’ve been a coach for exactly a year and I’m going because this company is doing amazing things!  I got off the couch and got into running and being healthy again because of P90X and Insanity.  I got energy and fun back in my spirit because of turbo-fire.  I”m finding the me I used to be and making it better.

The world my end in 2012 ( I highly doubt it) but it will be the year I crossed the line from getting healthy to being healthy again.

Keep pushing play and tomorrow is a much needed recovery workout…I think

#turbokick

Ok, Chalene wins!

Teaching turbo-kick is definitely getting my heart rate up higher than doing my Insanity workouts in the morning.

All hail the queen!

#Insanity:Asylum #beachbody #cardio

Shaun-T, I $%^& MISSED YOU!!!

Insanity:asylum is da bomb!  I’m pouring sweat, I’m breathing heavy, I STINK!!!  Everything I need in an extreme workout.  This is my 2nd round with Asylum as I did the first round in July before starting Turbofire.  To give credit where credit is due, I was in much better cardio shape this time around thanks to Turbofire but this workout is much more intense.

Today was the Speed and Agility workout which is the one that annoys me the most because I can’t go as fast as I think I should be able to go.  I can tell I was going faster this round than I was the last round but it’s still not fast enough to be what I want to be.  No worries, working out and fitness is a journey and If  I don’t make it to ultra fast this round, I’ll hit it again in a few months.

Its nice to have someone yelling at me again on the TV screen and demanding my best.  Sometimes you needs a softer more encouraging approach like Chalene, most of the time I need a kick my ass approach like this.  How DARE you call me out because I stopped to take a breath!

Anyway, its nice to be back in crazy land.  Day one in the books and 29 more to go.

Keep pushing play and let’s finish out the year on top of our health!

Today was suppose to be tone 30 and HIIT 25 but I got up tired and did sculpt 30 and will be running tonight so i’m skipping HIIT until I can determine if my knee is just being difficult for no reason.

This was a workout I needed, I’ve been feeling bloated the last few days (I blame the Kit-Kats from Halloween) and this workout gave me a good total body moving and grooving thing needed to work the bloat out.  I think I need more water intake as well.

I’ve pulled out the nutrition books and will begin focusing on diet and COOKING over the next month so i’m in the swing of cooking and packing lunch come Jan.  I’m at a point where I know the little things will begin to make all the difference and i’m ready to do the little things.

I lost a significant amount this year but I know I could have lost more if i paid more attention to the little things.  I’m tossing this goal out there now because I will make this happen.  I need to make this happen as much as I needed to make the 1/2 marathon and the 10K and the 7 mile runs happen.  This is going to be the defining event to kick off next year.

By the end of P90X2 I want to have before and after pictures so dramatically different that you have to wonder if I’m the same person.  I’m going to have the diet plan, the workout plan, i’m preparing to the meals by getting used to cooking now.  I’m doing a month of Insanity:Asylum to get me back in the mid-set of intense working out (no knock against Turbofire, it’s a great workout).  I’m going to follow the direction and watch the miracle happen.

I’ve said months ago that working out and getting into shape is a phase activity.  I know what needs to be done and I’ve been doing it but now i want to do it at a higher level.  I want to be done in 90 days and I want rips and cuts and a 34 inch waste again.  So this is my new goal, my new years resolution tossed out there early.  By March i want to be in 34 inch Jeans again.  I’ll take measurements at the end of Turbo and right before I start Asylum.  I know how far I’ve come but that’s all in the past and we can’t live off past accomplishments.  I’m looking towards the future and at the end of March, I WILL have reached this goal.

Watch me make this happen!

After a long weekend in central Illinois, it felt good, although sluggish, to be jumping back into a HIIT workout at 4 am.  I did something over the weekend and hurt my left knee a little bit so the jumping around was not without twinges this morning but I got a hard sweat.

My Birthday is tomorrow and I’ve noticed, ever since turning 32, I get a new injury every birthday.  I guess the knee twinge is just in time.  Fortunately I don’t think this is serious but I hope it doesn’t keep me from starting my new running routine tomorrow.

I’ve got 8 weeks to get ready for another 1/2 marathon, this on in Disney World!  I got 8 more weeks for TurboFire.  Looks like a good combo :)  I’ll finish Turbo and the marathon and will be start P90X2 the 2nd week of January.

This year has been all about getting up and getting moving again, dropping weight and being active.  I think 2012 will be about becoming competitive again.  By the end of next year I want to run fast, jump harder and I’m going to get officially back into martial arts.  Next year is going to be great but for now we have to continue to to

Just push play!  8 more weeks of turbofire, let’s crush this!

I’ve said this before and I need to remember it, it’s not always the best thing to do another workout less than 10 hours after your last workout.  The excellent HIIT25 and Scuplt 30 workouts of last night were followed by the mediocre Fire 55 workout of this morning.

I know where I went wrong.  My wife is always telling me that I’m not eating enough for all the work i’m doing.  About 35 minutes into this workout I could feel all the energy leaving my body and I had to think back to last night’s dinner and, I really didn’t eat that much.

Food is fuel, food is necessary, don’t be afraid to eat so you can hit a number on a scale, you’re not doing yourself any favors.  These workout burn between 600-1000 calories depending on how hard you push yourself.  I think I had 1900 calories of total intake yesterday.  I basically did this workout on an completely empty tank and the energy level shows.

Lets make a pact together that from this point on we will EAT quality and healthy food in amounts necessary to effective complete our training.  EAT, we have food for a reason.  Most of the time when I have a less than stellar workout, I can directly track it to what I’ve eaten that day or the day before.  Its the same with running, if i didn’t eat properly, my run drags on.

Lesson for the day, EAT you cant get a super body if you don’t give it super fuel.  I’m going to get started with a healthy Greenberry Shakeology.  At the very lease I know i’m getting all the vitamins and minerals I need in a day.  If you want to try one, message me and i’ll send you a sample.  It’s the healthiest meal of the day!

Keep pushing play, we are in month 3 of turbofire!  Lets make it a GREAT one!

I was exhausted this morning so I slept through my normal 4am workout (yes I get up that early, you should try it, absolutely NO ONE will bother you…except the 1 yr old who doesn’t appreciate daylight savings time).  I moved the workout to after work which wasn’t a bad idea.

Its COLD out, I walk 4 miles in the cold and it’s refreshing to warm up the muscles with 25 minutes of jumping around and sweating.  I decided to start making videos for people who’ve asked me about the workouts, beachbody and what I do.  I recorded footage of my HIIT workout tonight so with a little editing I will hopefully upload it tonight or tomorrow.

I think i’m in love with Chalene and I figured out what it is!  She manages to tap into the 3 year old I used to be watching Romp-a-room and at the end the lady would go around with her magic mirror and spout off names of everyone she could see.  I would get so excited when she would call my name.  Chalene has the same effect…kind of.  During the sculpt class the douche on the stag with her get’s her a yoga mat and Chalene says: “Thank you sean, you’re my favorite, if you want to be my favorite all you have to do is bring me workout equipment”

INSTANT STAB of Jealousy.  I want to be her favorite!!!  Wait a minute, i’m a grown ass man, what do i care what she thinks?!  But I do!!!  Chalene make me your favorite!!

Anyway, enough mental breakdown for now.  Great workout, perfect for after work.  Are you keeping up with your workouts? I know it’s harder in the fall after daylight savings because it gets dark so soon and its cold out but remember why you started this.  You want to be the best healthy you that you could possibly be and it’s not going to happy skipping the workouts because you don’t feel like it.  Feelings change, the level of fitness you can still achieve by the end of the year is all depending on how much you push yourself.  Get back on that healthy eating horse, I know its tempting to drown the Fall grey away with a box of cookies and hot chocolate but you are building a fitness future for yourself.  Don’t give in, don’t give up and dont’ look back.  If you messed up today learn from it and tomorrow is another day, another chance to do an extra push up, and extra situp and eat properly.  It’s never to late and there is absolutely no reason for you to get down because you had a temporary set back.  I’m here to help you and you’ll help me we just have to

Keep pushing play!

This time zone change is fun!  I am getting up at 3:30 to do my workouts now which isn’t so bad because i was waking up at 3:30 before only if time were to switch back this second i’m getting up at 2:30 and blah blah blah…who needs sleep

Fire 45 is very similar to the workout done during the certification class, with the added bonus of the last 12 minutes having Boom I got your boyfriend playing.  I get so distracted that I end up missing most of the last 12 minutes.  I can tell i’m pushing through the workouts at a higher intensity rate than I was before the class.

Interestingly enough, turbo-kick is suppose to be easier than turbofire but the group class setting makes it more intense and it ended up feeling more on par with Insanity!  Solid workout done this morning, tomorrow is another HIIT session which I’m looking forward to.  I keep forgetting this is month 3 of turbo for me.

I will admit that i’m getting excited about the delivery of P90X2 sometimes next month!!!  It will kill me to finish the turbo workout knowing that P90X2 is on the shelf waiting for me but I committed to this and I will finish all 19 weeks of it!

Keep pushing play and I’ll see you back tomorrow morning

It’s been a horrible week.  My son caught the flu on Tuesday and passed it to me on Wed and i’ve been laid up sick all week.  I got better Friday afternoon just in time for Todays Turbo-Kick certification!!!

Turbo kick is the health club version of turbofire and I did the 6 hour class today for the certification to be an instructor!  I was the only guy in a class of about 30 women.  I think I burned more calories in this class today than I did running the 1/2 marathon last weekend.  I”m exhausted, I smell bad and I need a shower.

It was hard, I was still weak and dehydrated from my weeks bout with the flu but I think I passed the certification.  I”ll find out in a bout a week.  I’m certain i passed the written test and the performance test wasn’t that difficult.

I’m a turbo kick instructor!

kick ass

I didn’t know how I felt going into this morning workout as I basically passed out last night around 8:30.  To my surprise, the body woke up and responded attractively :)  I had my sweat going 5 minutes into the workout and had a good time bouncing around and throwing punches and kicks.

I couldn’t figure out why my abs were sore and then I remembered doing core yesterday.  Chalene has the most deceptive core workout i’ve done in ages.  You don’t realize how much you’re working until the next day when you’re sore.

I was suppose to do a 5 mile run yesterday, my last run before Saturday, but the sky decided to hail/snow/look apocalyptic so I didn’t.  I’m picking up my race packet this afternoon and then the excitement starts.  I’m not a person that tends to get excited about something until it’s just about to happen (I’ve been disappointed way to many times).

Looking past the 1/2 marathon, Next Saturday I’m doing my turbo-kick certification that I had to cancel last time due to another meeting.  This time i’m doing the certification instead of doing the Hot Chocolate 15K (which is kind of a bummer but priorities).  I’m also on the edge of signing up for another half marathon in Jan taking place in AZ.  If i do this, I’m officially TRAVELING to run?!?

Anway, Turbofire is kicking ass, this is week 8, the recovery week which came at the persfect time.  8 more weeks and then…P90X2!!!  I can’t even begin to tell you how pumped I am about this workout!

Keep pushing play and in Jan I would love you to take the P90X2 plunge with me!
