The way I managed to line up my Insanity schedule this time around works out perfectly. I started on Sunday and since I teach Insanity on Thursday, I just skip that particular workout and sub it with my class and then Saturday is my off day which is another day I teach so it works out perfectly.
Tonight’s class proved that Insanity is really for everyone!
I had 3 nwebies in my class including a woman who had to be 70! I was worried about her doing the class and figured she would leave at some point in the middle when it got tough and she realized she signed up for the wrong class.
SHAME ON ME for prejudging this lady!!!!
She did the whole class, modified where she needed and is excited about coming back to class next week! HOLY HELL!!! This was not the easiest of classes either. Everyone put in a grade A effort but this was one of those inspirational moments as an instructor that makes you feel good.
Insanity will kick your ass but if you WANT to do it, you CAN do it. All you need to do is…
Dig Deeper :)
Have a great one
Yeah….so….you know how i’m always saying: “When you start a routine, follow it through and finish the routine, don’t skip around.” (Its in one of these many blogs I’ve written). Anyway, here is why I switched routines.
I went to the doctor and he’s cleared me for activity again. GREAT! I have a 39.3 mile run the first week in Jan….not so great.
I can push through Saturdays 13.1 run but the Sunday 26.2 would be an epic fail.
Les Mills combat is a GREAT workout…building strength and cardio stamina. If I had stuck with the program, I would be in awesome shape to do the 13.1 but I still probably would have crapped out about mile 18 in the 26.2
more than Asylum, or T25, no other workout could prepare me both cardio vascularly or get my feet and ankles adjusted, again, to the pounding 39.3 miles will put on your legs.
Having just come off impact injury, doing this may seem…Insane, but i can control this and if it hurts I back off. If I’m out running and it starts to hurt at mile 10, i still have 10 miles to run home.
Yeah yeah, i see those looks but trust me, I KNOW what i’m doing. I”m certified remember :)
Insanity this time around is different. Since I teach it weekly and understand the program much better now, I don’t feel as frantic doing it. The only workout that makes me sweat more is yoga.
All that being said, so far the leg, hip and foot feel fine. I need to stretch and continue to work on flexibility and i will schedule a few more appoints with my PT so make sure I’m not doing any damage.
Tonight i’m teaching two classes. One of them is going to be Kenpo-X, i’m not sure what i’m doing for the second class as of yet.
Now it’s time to shower and drink my morning Vanilla Shakeology! Healthiest meal of the day. I’m so glad I found this stuff because I just FEEL so much better when i’m drinking it I can’t begin to explain the difference.
You really should give it a try!
Currently i’m offering a 5 days sample pack. Message me for details or just got to my site and pick up a pack
Have a great one and DIG DEEPER!
last night I taught Insanity round 2.
The music is not as good as round 1 but once the workout starts, it all falls into place. Added another thing to my list of not smartest ideas…teaching an insanity class after two days of being sick. Overall the class went well and I taught modification and sweat all the sickness out of me but UGH! It’s kind of funny how bad pop music and activity and boost your energy levels!. Another bad idea, eating Wendy’s after teaching Insanity. It didn’t’ even taste good, I think I just wanted the salty fries. Blech!
This morning closes out my first week of T25 Beta with Upper Focus.
I think i’m going to have to go with Barely Survived. Some of the initial activities, used the exact same muscle as I used last night with Insanity and I was fatigued. The actual weight lifting part of the routine is pretty solid. I like the sumo lifts!
Week one of beta phase done, 4 more weeks to go! Tonight i’m running a Starlight 5k at 6:30 (something I forgot I was doing until yesterday) and I’m teaching tomorrow morning. I think tomorrow, i’m going to switch it up and maybe do a entire class of just stretching….mmmm
Anyway, Vanilla shakeology time and then off to work!
Have an amazing day!
The very best thing about Shaun-T workouts, be it Insanity, Asylum, Hip-hop abs or Focus T25 is that the stronger you get, the better and harder the workout gets.
Adaptive training - your body adapts and adjusts to the activity so you go faster which makes it harder until you adapt again and then you go faster and the cycle continues. This is why FORM is so important in the beginning. Go slow with great form and later you will go fast with great form.
This is week 4 and i’m on the last two days of the Alpha phase. I can tell ti’s time to move on the the Beta phase because I’m stronger and faster. my body has adapted and i’m doing exercises now that I had trouble with 4 weeks ago. Yep 25 minutes a day and I’m improving in leaps.
These improvements are translating to my other activities as well. It’s an entire physical life revolution!
Tonight is Insanity and I think i’m going to hit up Yoga tomorrow morning before heading downtown or Lollapolooza!
Keep focused on your fitness goal and attack it one day at a time! Consistence y is how you get better as this workout has proven it’s not necessarily the amount of TIME you workout!
If you are interested in doing this workout, message me for more info or go to my site and order a copy. You will not be disappointed!
I got up late this morning and had to leave early. The kind of late where I didn’t even have 25 minutes to workout. Sleeping with the window open and a cool breeze really makes one want to just sleep.
I did T25 Abs about 40 minutes before my Insanity class. I am growing to like this abs routine. It does focus on the core and I can tell i’m getting stronger every time I do it.
Insanity class continues to be an amazing experience. The class works hard, everyone is getting stronger as they adapt to the routines and I enjoy teaching it more and more! 3 weeks in and I see improvements in people by leaps and bounds.
I just had a nice Chocolate and Almond milk shakeology and now i’m going to read some comic books before heading off to bed. Tomorrow I think i’m going to Wrigley Field to do Yoga at the stadium with a bunch of other people. Should be fun I just hate driving to Chicago…ugh
Anyway, have a great night and see you in the AM for T25 lower body!
Bikram class yesterday was ROUGH! It’s exactly what I needed but that doesn’t make it any easier. The country is currently going through a heatwave and I think we could have opened the doors and had class and it would have been hot enough. NAH! We had our own heat source and i swear at one point it had to be close to 120 in that little room. Class was so hot that when I left it was slightly cooler outside…in the heatwave.
That being said, I was a solid class. Doug was instructing and I have …GLULP…missed he teaching style. He walks around the room and adjust positions and its great in a nerve wrecking kind of way.
T25 abs this morning was also kind of rough. I think i’m fighting a cold so my energy levels are not the greatest at the moment (just what I like to hear 3 days before a 1/2 marathon) I pushed through because it’s only 25 minutes. I don’t like working abs, I wish I could just get a mid section transplant but I guess that would be cheating.
All in all, two solid workout, I have 3 new people on my team and doing T25 and i’m teaching INSANITY tonight!
Drink your shakeology and keep working on that fitness goal. Some days are better than others but it will ultimately pay off with consistency
have a great one and watch Sharknado tonight
Tonight’s Insanity class was simply amazing! I had 9 people pushing and digging deeper and making the class hard and fun to teach. I hadn’t taught the 50 minute class before today and the extra block of activities really pushes this workout to the next level!
I think I like teaching this better than P90X and the music is better than Turbo-kick.
Insanity, if you get a chance to take a live class. DO iT!
My abs are the worst part of my body. Ever since I tore an oblique I’m always kind of meh about doing to much core, especially when it starts to hurt. I’ve been getting better at pushing past this mental block but if there was one muscle group I would surgically remove and just replace it would be my abs….or primarily Rectus Abdominus (muscle group reference 2 pts)
T25 Ab Intervals is a good workout for me. The moves were not to complicated, they were slow enough that I could maintain form and now worry about hurting anything and hard enough to make me want to stop…but i kept going….mostly
T25 comes with a workout calendar and each day you check off a box that says if you “nailed it” or “barely made it”. Today is a barely made it day.
The first 4 weeks of this workout is called the Alpha phase where the moves are a bit more concentrated and designed so you build a base. Form over speed (Money over everything j/k) I do like the ab routine, I think i’ll add it to my Saturday’s class workout
Speaking of…tonight I started teaching Cardio Blast featuring Insanity! I was debating on teaching the 30 minute routine and then doing something else for 30 but I think i’m going to go a full 50 minutes and see how every hold together. I’ve taught Insanity once since being certified and today debuts my dedicated Thursday dedicated class!
I’m excited!!! If you are in the area, drop on by and i’ll give you a free session.(message me for the address)
Looks like it’s just a Shaun T kind of day. Have a great one and keep on your fitness goals. Consistency is how it get’s done!
This is it, the fit test is completed and I had to push it and dig deeper but I got numbers and i’m pretty happy. But first let me just reiterate…
BUT I CAME PRETTY DAMN CLOSE…Across the board!!!! How do you feel about that Tonya?
So the results are posted, head over to my facebook fan page and give me a like to view them!
So that’s it! Insanity is officially done and i’m packing up for Disney tomorrow. I’m going to do a round of Yoga tonight and probably some serious rumble rolling on Friday and then the run.
So insanity is over what comes next?
Who’s coming with me?
