P90X day 85, the beginning of the end of my 90 day journey into xtreme fitness.  I”m on the recovery week and for the first time it actually feels like a recovery week.  I did Yoga X this morning and I don’t think I’ve had a better stretching session the entire 3 months.  I ran 4 miles yesterday and i’m never the best about stretching after I run so this morning my back and calf’s were very tight.  Down Dog….whoa, this feels good!

1/ 2 moon - Still not sure what this is suppose to be doing other than making me look like an uncoordinated bafoon but i did it anyway.

I want to take an actual yoga class, I’ve actually been doing yoga off and on since Jr. High School (more Off, than on) but i’d like to spend some time in a studio with a live instructor to see how things can improve.  I look at yoga as an enhancement to my martial arts ability.  I know it sounds weird since there are not punches or kicks but the flexibility and freaky strength you get from yoga helps in everything.

Something else i noticed this session…I hardly broke a sweat!  Now i’m not sure if this is good because my conditioning has gotten much better, or bad because i’m dehydrated and have no water to sweat out.  I’m going to lean towards the good because I know i was working for some of those stretches and I got warm and got the start of a sweat but not the usually.  I”m in better shape!

I think I still have about 15lbs before my muscle definition really starts to rip out which i’m fine with, i can feel the solid muscle under it all and it’s definitely solid.  I 30 day round of intense cardio and continued 1/2 marathon training should rip me up nicely.

Insanity: Asylum next month will do wonders for my cardio and agility.  I”m going to continue to drink my shakeology because I can feel the benefits in my skin and nails.  I also notice i don’t crave anywhere near as much crap food, and i’m ….regular again.  The year of fit is rapidly turning into the year of amazing and I again invite you to continue with me on my journey by joining me or finding one of your own.  Either way, we are making tons of progress.

I did kenpo this morning while holding a 9 month old who seems to be completely addicted to his fathers attention.  Now that he’s learned to crawl, if iI go in one room, he’s following me moments later.  He’ll crawl to me sit on his diapered butt and reach his arms up and smile that baby, teeth coming in smile that says “Pick me up, and hold me.”

So i did Kenpo-X holding a baby.  I did kicks with him in one arm, he got a huge thrill out of this.  I did blocks with him in one arm and then switched hom to the other.  I’m glad I actually do martial arts and have the balanced workout I need to be able to do this or i’d be in trouble.  He’s a 25lb baby.  That’s like doing a strength workout AND Kenpo.  Maybe Tony should put that in the P90X2 coming in November.  Hold your child and kick, now kick left, don’t drop the kid!

Ultimately, this is what started the journey and what it’s about.  I wanted to be in shape to hold and play with my sons no matter what.  Seeing him smile while i’m twisting and kick and completely able to hold his heavy butt up during the routine is P90X showing off what it’s done for me.

MY car is in the shop because of an accident when we went camping two weeks ago and i’m thinking about going to a movie this afternoon.  I didn’t bat an eye at the though of walking the 3 miles to the theater or the 3 miles home.  I’ve reached a point in my fitness and health were 3 miles is just a nice walk.  I didn’t get here by Not doing my workouts, eating crap food and wishing I could be healthy tomorrow when i’m done feeling sorry for myself today.  It’s hard but I’ve done harder workouts, it’s about being consistent and honest with yourself.  So what if you’re can only do 3 push-ups, do that 3 push ups consistently until you can do 4.  Change happens over time and with dedicated effort.  Changing your diet and eating habits is a struggle and takes work, so use the tools that are there to help you do it.  I drink Shakeology because it taste great and has everything I need in it to know, at the very least, i’m fueling my body.  That’s why I do P90X and that’s why i decided to become a beach body coach, to help and encourage others to find their fit goal and reach it, not over night but over time.

What exactly are German Stretch Techniques?  They don’t appear to be that much different from…oh wait, there are not different at all from what Tony had the group doing.  Some mornings, Tony is such an ass clown and this was one of those mornings.

I’m coming off my 3 day shakeoloy cleanse (I know it ended saturday) but i’m still feeling pretty wasted and this mornings workout proved that to me.  I was down about 5 reps from two weeks ago and i just didn’t have the energy to dig out anymore.  I actually had to skip the last three exercises becaue my collar bone started hurting and I don’t want/need to injure myself now with only 19 days remaining on the greatest fitness journey ever created!

I”m a huge fan of the P90X system and this is coming from someone that easily knows my way around free weights in a gym, has several free weight workout programs and have been lifting weights since High School.  P90X is a complete system that you just don’t typically get anywhere else.

I’m not such a fan of Ab ripper X.  This workout is pure hell and the better I think i’m getting at it, the harder it suddenly gets the next time I do it.  Its almost as if Tony sent a letter to the dark lord himself and asked what could be the most painful 15 minute activity possible AND how do i get people to pay to do it.  He clearly sold his soul for this workout and its apparent in the middle of Oblique V ups when he has his nervous breakdown and laughs hysterically.

These last two weeks of P90X are getting extremely difficult and it’s mostly mental.  I’ve been with the program for 71 days now and it mentally wears on you but i’m seeing results.  I’m leaner, toner and this weekend when i went to visit friends I haven’t seen in a while, the reaction of how much weight I’ve lost was motivation enough to continue to

I’ve decided to do another 3 day shakeology cleanse starting TODAY!  It was a rather impromptu decision but I think it will do me some good to help me refocus my diet and workout for this last month.  

So here…we…go!

6:30am Greenberry Shake.  i’m putting strawberries in it because i’m also going to continue P90X and will need a little bit extra on the calories.

Must remember to drink tons of water and eat my snacks.

I’m in a tug of war with my body weight.  I’ve seem to have stalled right before breaking through and i’m pushing and it’s pushing back and i’m pushing and it’s…you get the idea.

I would get discouraged but then I got an extra loop on my belt this morning so I know i’m losing inches and i’m compacting I just want the scale to reflect it.  YEAH I KNOW, don’t look at the damn scale but we all do it so SHUT IT!  I’m making sure i’m eating enough and properly, i slacked off a tad in the water department so i’m re doubling my efforts there and i’m mentallying focusing on my workouts.

In the home stretch, last 30 days and you’d think it would be easy and exciting but the workouts are still hard.  Mostly because i’m pushing myself harder but i’m also in better shape.  It’s exciting to push through the first round or first 1/2 of a workout, it sucks realizing you have used up tons of energy and have another 30 minutes to go…that’s when you dig deeper and push through. 

Tug of war!  I’ve been up and down 3lbs all week but won’t cross the rubicon yet.  I also haven’t really ran in two weeks so when i add this back in next wee, i’m sure there will be a difference.  I just find it funny how the body “protects” itself and wants to hang on to a certain feel.  Keep pulling body, you’re going down!  This is the summer of fit and you’ve already given up 60 lbs this year, another 30 won’t kill you.  I’ll give you to the end of sept to drop them :)

29 more days of p90x and we are going to bring it, bring it, bring it til the cows come home.  then i’m doing Asylum so you can give up the weight now and make asylum a little easier on yourself or, we’ll just do Asylum the hard way.  How ever this goes, i’m going to win.  Scratch that, I already won on Jan 1 this year when I poped Insanity into the dvd player, squeezed into my workout clothes, took a deep breath and decided to

The greatest thing about P90X is that when it starts to get hard and you’re frustrated and want to yell, Tony Horton is there to provide you with numerous things said that make little or no sense uttered and highly in approiate times to make you laugh and curse.

Today was Shoulder’s Bi’s and Tri’s and the trend of me getting stronger and more stable continues.  I had to lower my weigts for one exercise so that i could effectively do them with proper form but i’m not to worried.  The reps in everything went up and the x factor is high.  I’m definately going to need heavier weights for Phase II, starting in two weeks.  I think my calorie balance was good today as I didn’t run out of energy and was not sucking wind until the very end with Ab Ripper X and even failure there was more because of cramps than lack of energy (a while back I tore my left oblique and had to do rehab and have been leary of an injury ever since).

I gotta say it’s fun being a beachbody coach and I enjoy the little income i’m making from it but it’s ultimately more fun to help people and hear their stories about how advice i gave them helps shed 3 more lbs or push out a few more reps.  Fighting the nations weight problem one person at a time.  All you have to do is continue to

I love rasberry zingers!!!  I can eat them by the box if you let me.  I decided to go downstairs in my office building and grab a pack of zingers.  I could taste and smell the zingery goodness.  Only i get downstairs and automatically grab a banana don’t even look at the zinger.

It was so automatic and natural that i’m still kind of in shock that I made the healthy choice without much thought.  I have crossed the rubicon, no more garbage snacks on instinct.  Not that i won’t have a bag of chips or a donut but now the good stuff is officially an option.

I’m torn between happy and sad…
